James Emmett

I recieved my big package of information today. Some of the Emmett family hired Mark E. Garner, SLC to do some research between 1995-2001.

Parentage of Ann Emmett
He confirmed that John Emmett's death date is really 11 May 1863 but his death/burial has not been located. I do not know how they found the date but will try to find a record in Salt Lake to prove it. I think it might be recorded in some baptism for the dead records performed in the Logan Temple on in Mar 1885. I need to also find this document in SLC.

It looks like we have the birthday and birthplace of James Emmett wrong. (the one we believe to be illegitimate). We might have the wrong Ann Emmett.
What Mark Gardner confirmed about Ann Emmett:(I need to go down and get church records)
1) She is the grandmother of John Emmet who married Sarah Boothman
2) Our Ann did marry Peter Barrit 12 Oct 1769 at Thornton-in-Craven and had one son William christened and buried in Nov 1771at Thornton-in-Craven.
3) Ann Emmett was buried 27 Jun 1789 at Thornton-in-Craven. No age listed.
4) When James Emmett Married Mary (Mally) Bell on 12 Oct 1784 at Broughton-in-Airdale. James Emmett is listed as residing at Thornton. ( I now believe this is Thornton-in-Craven-BB)

Because of these four reasons he wonders if Ann was born in Thornton-in-Craven. There is a posibility:
16 May 1736 Ann the daughter of Thomas Emmet.

A christening record for one of James Emmett and Mary Bell Emmett's children, James, born 30 Apr 1788 and christened 18 Jun 1788 states that he is the son of James Emmett of Skipton, blacksmith who is the son of Thomas Smith by Ann Emmot late of Lotersdale, (Yorkshire) and his mother, Mary Bell the daughter of James Bell of Elslack, farmer.

On another record of James Emmett and Mary Bell Emmett child, John born 16 Apr 1790 and chr 12 Sep 1790 John is shown as the 2nd son of James Emmot of Skipton, blacksmith son of Ann Emmett now wife of Peter Barrot of Thornton-in-Craven, (Yorkshire) and Mary daughter of James Bell of Elslack, farmer.
